Baby Rae was born on the 3rd of June 2017 (yes, just over three weeks early) at 1.06am. As with LJ I will not be referring to her on my blog or social media by her full name to protect her digital footprint down the track, but trust me her first name is beautiful and suits her wonderfully, which is lucky because I no longer love my second option. Rae is her middle name, so referring to her this way still feels natural.
She weighed 3.3kgs and was 49cm long
(Side note: LJ was born 4 weeks and 2 days longer gestation than Rae and he was 3.5kg and 48cms long, so Rae was growing well in there after all. One of the midwives commented that it must be Mother natures way of telling me that 3.3-3.5kgs are the perfect size baby for my body)
It was a spontaneous, natural labour with only gas to get me through the tricky bits. Luckily she was not breech, and there were no complications for either Mum or Bub. I delivered at Bacchus Marsh Hospital and could not have been happier with the care I received there. Labour lasted only 2hours and 40 minutes from the first contraction to delivery.
(Side note: LJs labour lasted 18hours and 55mins from the first contraction to delivery)
She is an amazing baby, I did not even hear her cry for the first two days of her life. She has filled LJ and my hearts with so much love and we can’t imagine life without her. For the first few weeks LJ would just look at me and say “I can’t believe she is here already, We are so lucky to have her” …talk about heart explosions!
I will post a birth story at some point (in the next year, lol) along with a few posts I had in the works while I was pregnant about my thoughts on having two kids, why I won’t reveal her full name, my thoughts on having a girl, preparing LJ to be a big brother and a bunch of decor/DIY posts about her nursery.
Thank you so much to everyone who has messaged or emailed me to send love since Rae was born.
